Advantages and disadvantages for pre production documents

Mindmap: The advantages for mind maps are that they are easy to see the links between certain nodes which will make it easier for the production team to understand the ideas. The disadvantages of mind maps are that they rarely show images which doesn’t benefit the producer. Also they are just notes so they don’t go into a lot of detail. It can also be time wasting if in the end you don’t send up using the mind map. Mind maps can be confusing if someone does it wrong.

Mood boards: The advantages of a mood board are that you can visually see the ideas and that will help the production team understand the concept when creating product. We can also see the house style of a product and see the fonts. They are easy to make and are universally understood. The disadvantages of mood boards is that they are not in great depth as they are just notes So it will need to be accompanied by another planning document. May also not be specific enough for the client and it may not look professional. A mood board doesn’t Allow you to organise your tasks and milestones.

Blue-sky Thinking: The advantages for this are you can save time because everyone is in a room planning. You can also gather a lot of ideas as there are multiple people there. The disadvantages for value sky thinking is that it may not be detailed. Also could be repetitive And there will be disagreements so there won’t be a clear path.

SWOT Analysis: The advantages for this are that you can organise time to solve problems and it allows to have contingency time. The disadvantages are that there might be new threats along the way that you miss out. It is also very time consuming plus in certain instances they could be cancelled e.g. COVID.
