Final question homework
A visualisation diagram is a pre production method that allows you to see the layout and design of a webpage. It also shows the house style of the website (colours and fonts) which usually is the house style of the entire company.
An advantage of visualisation diagram is that the person who created can justify their choices and explain why they added certain features. For example, Cerys would be the one to make the visualisation diagram and if she decides to add a short video on the home page, she can label it and explain why it is included. Also, since you get a basic design of how the website will look you can analyse the strengths and weaknesses of the design and make changes if needed.
A disadvantage of a visualisation diagram is that they take time to make especially for a website that will have multiple pages. This increases the time spent which could be used towards other parts of the production process. For example, Cerys would have to make multiple visualisation diagrams which would take a long time and that time could be spent making promotional content.
Visualisation diagrams are more effective than other pre production methods such as mind maps and mood boards as they are much more in depth and they give you a much better idea of can go onto the website. For example, Cerys could create a mind map or mood board to gather ideas but then she would design a visualisation diagram to show those ideas.
However, a SWOT analysis could be another effective method of pre production as not only can you analyse the strengths and weaknesses of your product, you can also see the opportunities to improve your products and the threats of other companies. For example, a rival holiday company could have features that you don’t so that gives you the initiative to think of more original ideas.
In conclusion a visualisation diagram is an effective way of the planning process as it allows you to see a early and basic design of the website with justification for content.
